Decline In Tusker Population; What Will Elephant Census Reveals?

Tuskers are an integral part and pride of Kerala. It's almost impossible for Malayalis to imagine a procession without bedecked elephants during a festival season. People from different parts of the globe come to enjoy this royal tradition. Around 25 to 30 elephant deaths are recorded every year. The Supreme Court has ordered to conduct an elephant census to determine the tusker population in the state. It is doubted that the number will not cross 500 when the census is completed.
