Kozhikode Native Farmer Preserves Indigenous Paddy Seeds

When the memory of agricultural tradition of Kerala is renewed on Vishu day, it is worth to honour a farmer in Kozhikode who preserves many indigenous paddy seeds for future generations. The 73-year-old Chinnettan, a native of Ramanattukara is protecting the rare paddy varieties. Eleven varieties of native paddy seeds, including mundakan and tavalakannan, are preserved by him.
