Forest Dept Violated Rules To Help Mohanlal: CAG

T'puram: The Forest Department of Kerala violated rules to help actor Mohanlal, who was involved in a case in which he had allegedly kept elephant tusks illegally, says a CAG report. An order was issued by the department to enable the actor alone to reveal the animal articles in his possession; it is a violation of section 40 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, the CAG points out. The benefit of the same order was not given to others who had committed the same offence. Four tusks were recovered from Mohanlal's house afew years ago.
