Health Dept Lapse: Covid Victims Funeral Held While Body Remained At Mortuary

Kollam: Family of a COVID-19 victim alleged serious lapses on the part of the state's Health department in the handling of the mortal remains of their kin. The deceased, identified as Pathanapuram native Devarajan, succumbed to COVID-19 on October 2. Since there is no space to cremate him in his residential premises, the Health department assured the family that they will arrange for the cremation. However, nineteen days on, his body is still in the mortuary in Govt MCH Thiruvananthapuram. Unaware of this, the family conducted the final rites.
