Customs To Interrogate Kodiyeri’s Wife For Receiving iPhone From Santhosh Eapen

T'Puram: Customs department will interrogate former CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’ s wife Vinodini Balakrishnan over receiving iPhone from Unitac owner Santhosh Eapen. The department has served a notice to Vinodini directing her to appear for interrogation on March 10 at the customs office in Kochi. The officials have taken action finding that Vinodini used one of the 6 mobiles which was distributed by Santhosh Eappen. Customs reported that she used the phone worth Rs 1.13 lakh. In his statement to Customs, Santhosh Eapen revealed that he gave bribe for obtaining the Life Mission contract. The customs found that he had distributed mobile phones to Chief Minister's former principal secretary M Sivasankar, additional protocol officer Rajeevan, Padmanabha Sharma, Jithu and Praveen as part of this. It is revealed that the consulate general gifted the iPhone to Vinodini. According to reports, the customs also recovered the SIM card of the phone. The customs checked the IMEI number and found that Vinodini was using the phone. It also found that she contacted Unitac owner from this phone. It is reported that she stopped using the phone after the gold smuggling case turned controversial.
