Atal Tunnel, Longest High-Altitude Highway Tunnel In World
New Delhi: The 9.02 km long Atal tunnel that passes through Rohtang pass is the longest high altitude highway tunnel in the world. The tunnel will reduce the distance from Manali to Leh by 46 km. The tunnel was constructed under the leadership of KP Purushothaman, a Malayalee Chief Engineer, Border Roads Organisation.
