No-construction at landslide, mudslide prone areas: Govt.
Idukki: The government has decided not to give permission for building constructions in landslide and mudslide prone areas. An order has been issued to the district, local self-governing bodies by Chief Secretary in this regard. There are ecologically fragile areas among those where landslips occurred. It has been brought to the notice of the government that rebuilding works have been initiated in these areas. The order instructs not to issue permission for construction activities here for now. The order said that the government intends to carry out a scientific study and analysis to find out appropriate zones for construction activities in fragile and vulnerable areas. The order sent to district collectors, police officials and local self-government institutions urges to disprove and obstruct any construction activities in areas where landslides and mudslides had occurred.
